Atlanta Harari Community Bylaws
These bylaws govern the operation and management of the Atlanta Harari Community. They outline our organizational structure, membership requirements, and community guidelines.

Article I: Name and Purpose
- •The name of this organization shall be the Atlanta Harari Community (AHC).
- •The purpose of this organization is to preserve and promote Harari culture, provide mutual support to community members, and serve as a bridge between our Ethiopian heritage and American life.
Article II: Membership
- •Membership is open to all individuals of Harari descent and their families living in the Atlanta metropolitan area.
- •Members must be at least 18 years of age to vote in community elections.
- •Annual membership dues are required to maintain active membership status.
- •Members are expected to participate in community activities and volunteer a minimum of 10 hours per year.
Article III: Board of Directors
- •The Board of Directors shall consist of 7 members: President, Vice President, Secretary, Treasurer, and 3 Board Members.
- •Board members shall serve 2-year terms with elections held in December.
- •The President shall preside over all meetings and represent the community in official matters.
- •The Vice President shall assist the President and assume duties in their absence.
- •The Secretary shall maintain records of all meetings and official correspondence.
- •The Treasurer shall manage all financial matters and provide regular reports to the membership.
Article IV: Meetings
- •Regular board meetings shall be held monthly.
- •General membership meetings shall be held quarterly.
- •Special meetings may be called by the President or upon request of 25% of the membership.
- •A quorum of 50% of active members is required for voting on major decisions.
Article V: Financial Management
- •The fiscal year shall run from January 1st to December 31st.
- •Annual membership dues are due by March 31st of each year.
- •A late fee of $20 will be assessed for payments received after March 31st.
- •All financial transactions must be approved by the Board of Directors.
- •An annual financial audit shall be conducted by an independent auditor.
Article VI: Community Center
- •The community center is available for rental by members and non-members.
- •All bookings require approval by the Board of Directors.
- •Rental fees are determined by the Board and may vary based on event type and duration.
- •Members receive priority booking and discounted rates.
- •The community center shall be maintained in good condition for all users.
Article VII: Amendments
- •These bylaws may be amended by a two-thirds vote of the membership present at a general meeting.
- •Proposed amendments must be submitted in writing to the Board at least 30 days before the meeting.
- •All members must be notified of proposed amendments at least 14 days before the vote.
Article VIII: Dissolution
- •In the event of dissolution, all assets shall be distributed to charitable organizations serving the Harari community.
- •No member shall receive any personal benefit from the dissolution of the organization.
